1855 - 1904
Butcher master Johann Margaf operated a so-called "Kranzwirtschaft," known as "Restauration Margraf," at his property on the road to Schaffhausen since 1855. After almost 50 years, butcher Josef Jäger acquired the Margraf property in 1904 and, after expanding the space, continued to run both the butcher shop and the restaurant under the name "Kranz."
1913 - 1958
In 1913, there was another renovation. After the death of Josef Jäger, his widow continued to run the "Kranz" with a brief interruption and in 1931, she leased it, including the butcher shop, to her son, butcher master Stefan Jäger. Two years later, he began building a slaughterhouse. The closing of the "Kranz" in 1958 marked the end of a 54-year family tradition.
Eight years later, butcher master Erich Stier acquired the butcher shop and the tavern and continued to run both with his wife Gertrud.
1975
In 1975, the old tavern was demolished and a new residential and commercial building with a tavern was built by the Stier family. Just one year later, the renovated "Kranz" opened its doors again and was considered a model example of the revitalization of the old town center of Gottmadingen.
1988 - 1990
In 1988/89, the couple Erich and Gertrud Stier built a residential and commercial building with a restaurant and hotel on the opposite side of the main street, where the former farm building used to be. They have been running a restaurant and hotel under the traditional name "Kranz" since March 18, 1990.
1998
The new guesthouse was inaugurated in 1998, with a lot of emphasis on comfort and coziness in the furnishings.
2007
On October 1, 2007, the business was taken over by Petra Stier.
